DVD Picks for 11/21/07

One of the best movies I saw this year, which I’m sure will be forgotten come Oscar time (and maybe it wasn’t OSCAR good), is finally out on DVD.

It’s called Rescue Dawn and stars Christian Bale as a stranded POW during the Vietnam War. I saw this movie back in July and absolutely loved it. It got a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, which I really like as a good judge of the quality of a movie.

Bale is amazing in this movie and it’s just another notch in his belt for great films.

Live Free and Die Hard

The fourth movie in the Die Hard series was pretty good and worth watching again. While Bruce Willis (John McClane) is the star of the movie, the MAC guy, Justin Long, really steals the movie and is perfect as the goofy sidekick that Willis is trying to protect.

McClane’s daughter becomes an integral part of plot and and she has some great lines. The only downside to this film is the PG-13 rating, which basically mutes the famous final line “Yippee Kiyaay….”

Ice Road Truckers, season 1: I heard this was good
Hudson Hawk - Special Edition: This movie has kind of a cult following, I thought it was okay
Hairspray (2007): Never saw it, heard it was good
