Is the WGA strike almost over?

Huge news coming from Deadline Hollywood, which has some pretty reliable sources from what I’ve read on there lately. Nikki Finki posted last week that the WGA and AMTPT were sitting down to talk after Thanksgiving, and that happened.

Now she reports, almost against her better judgment and in fear of getting hopes up, that her source is telling her a deal has been put into place that both sides have agreed to.

Here is the rest of her report:

“It’s already done, basically,” the insider describes. That’s because of the weeks worth of groundwork by the Hollywood agents working the writers guild leadership on one side, and the studio and network moguls on the other. I was told not to expect an agreement this week.  But my source thought it was possible that the strike could be settled before Christmas.

Look, I don’t want to raise false hope here. But this source has been very accurate in the past. The negotiations starting today will have a news blackout, so don’t expect any significant leaks. But consider the real possibility there’s been a breakthrough. Still, I must caution that this is Hollywood — where defeat is snatched from the jaws of victory nearly every time.

Wow. Could it happen this soon? If so, since shows usually take a break over Christmas anyways, it could be possible for a lot of them to pickup where they left off and get our shows back on the air sooner rather than later.

I’ll pass along more info as it comes in, but this could be very good news…but as Nikki said…this IS Hollywood, so you never know what is going on.
