NBC puts Journeyman on notice
The worst thing that could happen to this 2007 fall season, besides the WGA strike, would be if one of the best new shows out there gets axed and causes those fans huge amounts of anguish in getting over it.
It’s about that time for Journeyman to follow the way of Sports Night and Firefly. Quality shows that got axed because of poor ratings, even though they each had huge followings and were critically acclaimed. The ratings just weren’t good enough.
Real Honest Film clued me in on this story. According to Zap2it, NBC has given Journeyman two weeks to get their ratings up. Ugh.
What’s sad is that according to Zap2it, NBC is ignoring the amount of viewers they have who watch the show on DVR after the live episode has shown and also those who view it online. They are “only interested in live Nielsens.”
The staff on the show are still holding out hope that their fanbase can save them.
The show staff is hoping for the best, according to our source. “I feel like we take the fan community very seriously. [For example], when Langley appeared on the show, he got a huge response as someone who could give answers, not more questions. We went back and added more of him. We’ve been loyal to our fanbase.”
These are the type of shows I live for and I am getting so tired of networks yanking them after the public gets sucked in.
It may have been different back in the day when mythology and overall plot-driven shows weren’t so numerous, but in these days of Lost and Heroes, these kind of shows are all over the place and they involve us so much more than before.
With Firefly, we had the deeper River plot that we wanted to know about and discover, and it took a MOVIE to give us answers. Daybreak, while it wasn’t as good as Journeyman at all, was another one that left us hanging when it got axed. I still have no idea why the guy was repeating the same day over and over.
The article on Zap2It was published last Monday, so that basically means we have one more episode left for the ratings to improve.
Let’s all watch it Live on Monday and hope for the best!

It's such good science fiction, as Michael Wentz wrong at Real Honest Film...I just pray somehow it gets saved.

Makes me want to turn off the TV and read more books. UGH!

Actually, it was okay, but it started feeling a bit preachy to me and too much like the West Wing at times.
