The network let the option lapse which essentially cancels the series since no further episodes can be produced. Unlike many new shows this season “Journeyman” was actually able to complete all 13 episodes that were originally ordered by the network. Unfortunately, the show failed to find an audience that lived up to NBC’s expectations. This week’s episode, one of the best of the season, posted its lowest adults 18-49 rating (1.7 rating/8 share) on Monday without a “Heroes” lead-in.
An NBC spokeswoman has said that the remaining two episodes will air as scheduled next week.
Compounding the anger I feel at such a good show getting canceled is the fact that NBC has already handed out full-season pickups to two of it’s four new shows, “Life” and “Chuck” which have barely done better in the ratings and which seem to have smaller fanbases. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, though, since NBC hasn’t even picked up the once-promising “Bionic Woman” yet and it’s looking more and more like that show may never make it past year one either.
Unlike “Jericho” from last year I fear there is no massive fan base to rise up and send tons of peanuts to NBC headquarters to save “Journeyman.” We will never know the answers to all the questions that have been raised. We will never know why Dan and Livia keep traveling through time. And Moon Bloodgood will have her second 13 episode series in a row get canceled (after last year’s “Daybreak”) with an audience left in the lurch.
TV sucks.

My wife is going to be pissed off about that one. She was a fan of the series and is getting quite tired of shows she likes getting canceled.

This totally sucks, but unfortunately isn’t much of a surprise. NBC has developed a nasty habit of canceling good shows in that slot without giving them much of a chance. I guess in their wisdom they think we’d rather watch American Gladiators or Clash of the Choirs…puleeeeze.
I think this is one of the driving forces in many of us watching more cable. Shows don’t have to pull a big rating to make it through and there’s some great content there.
With the exception of the Office (which barely made it through season one) NBC has very little I’m interested in anymore. Even Heroes, when it comes back is on my short list of being canceled on my DVR.
I say boycott the whole damn network. NBC sucks!

What? Give up my sources? Never! I’ll go to jail first!
Yeah, I’m bummed. I’m thinking boycott…of all of them. I’m starting to think the writer’s strike is the best thing that ever happened. If they can stay on strike long enough they’ll all have to go get other jobs and then there’ll be no one left to write for TV and there won’t be any television and we can all go back to reading books and watching movies the way God intended…
Jason did you notice that Mike “Had To Confirm The News” mmm you need to have a serious talk to him. LMAO

Damn you, NBC!! That is it. I’m moving to FOX now. You know, they at least could have shoved it over to U.S.A. Network, like they did with L&O: CI (which I hate…grrr). It’s no wonder they can’t pick up against the other networks. They won’t give any good show a fighting chance. I suppose they’ll stick boring “Medium” on there again. *Yawn*
Looks like I’ll be taking Monday night classes next semester.

Jason, then what will we blog about?
Vic, this kind of news you don’t just take from one source, even if their name is Jason A. Clark.
I have to confirm it for my own well-being and satisfaction. I still don’t want to believe it and am hoping both Jason and SciFi.com are wrong.
