Jamie Lynn Spears Pregnant
The 16-year-old star of “Zoey 101” and sister to Britney Spears, Jamie Lynn Spears (official site), has told OK! magazine that she is 12 weeks pregnant with the baby of her boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.
Who didn’t see this coming?
“It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected,” Spears said. “I was in complete and total shock and so was he.”
After she found out from a doctor that she was pregnant, she said, “I took two weeks to myself where I didn’t tell anybody.” Spears broke the news to her mother, Lynne, just before Thanksgiving, the magazine reported
Lynne Spears, already a grandmother to Britney’s constantly endangered young sons, told the magazine: “I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious. She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby.”
She said her actress daughter, the telegenic heroine of her popular Nickelodeon series, has known Aldridge for years and began dating him in high school.
Learning Some Lessons
I guess we can all learn several things from this. One, curfews don’t really mean much when it comes to teenagers and sex. If the kids want to have sex, they’re going to have sex. Secondly, Lynne Spears has completely lost control of her children…which I think we pretty much already knew.
Jamie Lynn was supposed to be the “good” Spears daughter. Anyone who’s ever been around that kind of sister dynamic before, however, could have seen this coming a mile away. I’m sure Britney’s influence hasn’t exactly helped matters. She’s not exactly the stable older sister that Jamie Lynn can look up to.
We can’t blame this all on Britney, though. There’s an absolute epidemic of unwed famous women giving birth and it’s setting a horrible example for our nation’s kids. Just last week we learned that Jessica Alba is pregnant. Heck, I haven’t even had time to do an article on that before the news of Jamie Lynn Spears’ pregnancy broke.
The magazines and media and talk shows are glamorizing the “brave” single women like Angelina Jolie (who was single at the time), Bridget Moynahan, Halle Berry who are getting pregnant out of wedlock when they should be telling people what these women really are: STUPID!
These Women Are Selfish And/Or Stupid
I won’t even get in to how these women know they should be setting examples because of their fame and celebrity. I won’t get in to the kind of example a pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears sets for younger girls. After all, maybe they don’t want to be famous. Maybe they don’t want to be an example to millions of young women. Okay, fair enough.
But what about the babies that they’re bringing into this world? Birth control has been around for centuries and is pretty effective. I don’t think all of these pregnancies are because of failed birth control. I think it’s far more likely that these women are either so stupid as to not be using birth control, so self centered as to think it (pregnancy) couldn’t possibly happen to them, or so selfish as to think that they deserve a new plaything and who cares if they have the maturity or family stability to properly care for or raise up another human life.
You see their selfishness when they parade themselves all over the magazines and talk shows talking about how excited they are and how it’s such an unexpected blessing. Their cheap sex with some low life boyfriend who they barely care about is supposed to spawn a love child who will be the light of their world? Please. That’s what the celebrities of past generations thought as well which is why all of their children turned out so well… (yeah, I’m being sarcastic)
Maybe I’m old fashioned, but there are plenty of studies that back up my opinion that a child growing up in a family with a loving mother and father (not to mention parents who are actually at home raising the child together) grow up to become more stable and productive adults.
So, what’s to become of pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears? Well, she says she wants to raise the baby in her home state of Louisiana â€â€? “so it can have a normal family life.”
Umm…I don’t think there’s much of a chance of that happening, Jamie. Good luck, though.
In the meantime, “Zoey 101″ is scheduled to conclude its third season January 4 with a cliffhanger episode in which Spears’ character must decide whether or not to leave her fictional Pacific Coast Academy boarding school in California to join her parents in London.
The show is scheduled to resume in February, and its producer, Dan Schneider, has said filming on the fourth season has already been completed. At least they won’t have to show Jamie Lynn pregnant for a whole season.
Mother, Lynne Spears, had a parenting book that was supposed to be published in the Spring of 2008. Needless to say, that book has been put on hold, indefinitely.
