Forgetting Sarah Marshall is just another in the long line of comedies being done by Judd Apatow and his production company, Apatow Productions (for being such a great comedy writer, you’d think a more original name could have been come up with).
Let’s run down the list of Apatow television/movies in the past 8 years: Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Anchorman, 40 Year Old Virgin, Talladega Nights, Knocked Up, Superbad and Walk Hard. You also have Drillbit Taylor coming in 2008 and now this new one, Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
That is a seriously awesome list of films.
Besides Apatow, Forgetting Sarah Marshall has two things going for it (for me at least): Kristen Bell and Jason Segal. First off, Kristen Bell is awesome, and while she didn’t shine in Heroes (I blame the writing), her three years on Veronica Mars were superb.
And Jason Segal is from Freaks and Geeks and was also in Undeclared and Knocked Up. You also get another dose of Jonah Hill from Superbad.
At some point, you may ask yourself, “doesn’t it seem lame and tiring to do all these movies with essentially the same revolving group of actors?”
That’s a great question, but I’m not ready to answer “yes” yet. I still love all these guys. And now he adds Kristen Bell into the mix.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the tale of a guy who gets dumped by his girlfriend and travels to Hawaii to get over it. Little does he know, she’s there too and with her new boyfriend.
Sounds like a fun little plot and the previews below look pretty much like an Apatow film. It’s supposed to be released on May 30th, 2008.

Segal will probably bring a lot of fans from the “How I Met Your Mother” clan. While I don’t watch it, I hear it is a pretty great show.
I hope the Judd Apatow train of comedy classics continues for awhile longer.
Probably a good TV series to watch over Christmas break!
“How I Met Your Mother” is actually really funny.
Might need to grab it over the summer, or even this spring.
Great comedies…That little fat guy was great in Super Bad. On long nights setting up my clan via clan hosting I would sit and watch random youtube comedy/hbo standups…good stuff.
