Andy Bernard, Michael Scott quote highlight
I was looking for a new quote to appear in the header of this site (some of you may notice that it actually DOES change from time to time) and with all the Lost talk, one short phrase from The Office and Andy Bernard kept coming to me.
“…gonna get my ‘Lost’ on…”
So I investigated. Actually, Jina investigated for me because she’s good like that. She discovered the full quote that I was looking for, which led not only to the Andy Bernard line, but also to the Michael Scott talking head at the end of the episode.
Andy: Hey, boss.
Michael: Hey, what’s up.
Andy: Noooothin’. Ehrrrrrrrrr. Heh. Man. TGI-Wednesday. Am I right?
Michael: Yep.
Andy: Gonna go home. Get my beer on. Get my “Lost” on. What are you doing later, wanna hang out?
Michael: I don’t know. Maybe.
Andy: Well, I will take that as a maybe. [Michael gets up] Where are you going?
Michael: Bathroom.
Andy: Oh, well, I’m going to the kitchen, I’ll walk with you.
Hilarious moment of irony in that Andy seems to annoy Michael big time, which is usually how people feel about Michael.
The ending quote is pretty classic as well, totally showing the cluelessness that he has about most things.
Michael: Love that Andy, right? Solid fellow. Seems smart enough. Likes me a lot. A lot. Too much. Like a crazy person. A little. Not super crazy… just… there’s something about him that creeps me out. I can’t really explain it. He’s always up in my bidness. Which is ebonics for “being in my face and annoying the bejesus out of me.” I don’t understand how someone could have so little self-awareness.
All of this to say…I have a new quote and I really, REALLY miss this show.

I just got through watch the “Survivor Man” episode on Hulu. I’ll be glad when it’s back on the air.

Wonder how this will all work? let say the writers strike goes another 2 more months. Will all seasons be cut short and start in fall on time or will the seasons go long this year and start later than the fall?
But Mike and I were talking about shorter seasons… and that will ultimately affect DVD sales as well. They won’t be able to charge regular prices for a shortened (8 episode season) if they never come back this spring. Just an interesting thought.
You don’t think they will attempt to charge regular price for shortened seasons on DVDs? That is interesting - I have this low-view of those companies and see them doing whatever is necessary to re-coup any lost monies - even if it means gouging the consumer. Or maybe I’m just cynical…
They may WANT to do it, but how can they? I dunno…I can see your side, but I just don’t see them doing it without bringing fire down upon themselves.
I agree with Jina, actors dont get the extnded vacation and would need to anti up for more shows, OR there is no way they can charge regular price for a shortened season.
I would love nothing more than to share your optimism, unfortunately the actors and the writers are not in charge of setting prices for their product, they are as much at the mercy of the bean-counters as the consumer.
The way I see it is if the Studio is losing money, then will pass that off to the consumer by charging more and short-change the people bringing in the money by paying less all to fatten their own wallets.

Right there with you - sad to see the season cut short. I can’t wait until the strike is over and I can get my “Office” on.
The scenes with Michael typically make me feel uncomfortable and embarrassed for him, but with Andy in the mix, you feel a little justified since he does to Michael what Michael does to the rest of the world.
