More details are starting to emerge concerning the tragic death of actor Heath Ledger (Actor Heath Ledger Found Dead In Apartment).

Early reports were indicating that sleeping pills were found next to the bed where Ledger’s body was found and that there were signs indicating he may have committed suicide.  Those same reports said that the apartment he was found in belonged to Mary-Kate Olsen.

It now appears that police have indicated to ABC News that prescription drugs including sleeping pills and two anti-anxiety medications (Diazepam and Alprazolam prescribed in Ledger’s name) found on the scene likely played a part but that the death appeared to be accidental.

According to police, a cleaning lady for Ledger and a masseuse were together when they discovered Ledger’s lifeless body.  The two tried to shake Ledger to awaken him, but failing that the cleaning lady called police while the masseuse called a bodyguard who works for the Olsens.  The bodyguard is a friend of the masseuse and is an EMT.  The bodyguard was around the block at Ashley Olsen’s and he immediately went over, but by the time he arrived, the police had already arrived.

Meanwhile, TMZ is reporting that Ledger was sick with pneumonia when he died.  That report has not yet been confirmed.  TMZ is also saying that they have been contacted by members of Ledger’s family who remain adamant that Ledger absolutely would not have taken his own life.

It is likely many questions will not be answered until the autopsy is performed.
