New “Star Trek” Poster Released

The powers that be decided that the “Star Trek” (official site) poster we’ve been using for the past couple of months isn’t good enough now that we have a nice teaser trailer to watch (Star Trek Teaser Trailer Now Available Right Here!) and a time consuming viral website to keep us busy (Star Trek Viral Site - Secrets Revealed).  I’m actually cool with that.  They don’t think the poster is good enough so they want to give us a new one.

This is the one we’ve been using:

Star Trek Teaser Poster 1
It’s not too bad.  I’ve gotten used to it.  I think it’s served pretty well as a teaser poster.  I mean, it’s obvious that it represents “Star Trek” so that makes it pretty successful. Now here is the new poster:
Star Trek Teaser Poster 2
Notice anything?  Yeah, it’s pretty much the same poster only without all the neat colors.  Who thought this was better?  I don’t get it.  I mean, it matches the logo from the trailer and the viral site if that’s what you’re going for.  Other than that, I’m not sure it’s very successful.Any opinions?

  1. I like the first one better I think…

Mike Olbinski’s last blog post..Don?t forget: Michael Clayton hits theaters today

  2. Hmm … I’m surprised they’d go with a metal Enterprise insignia.  This wasn’t used in Starfleet until after the end of Kirk’s five year mission with the Constitution Class Enterprise :???:
That said, I think the first one would have been a better match if the movie is supposed to take place before the original crew came together on the bridge of the ever-storied NCC-1701.

    But I digress….

ジェイソン (Jason)’s last blog post..So Much for “Fresh Country Airâ€Â?

  3. Jason, I’m not even going to pretend like I know if you’re right about the metal insignia thing or not because I have no idea.  But, I did read an interview where it said Trekkies were upset about the trailer because the Enterprise was being built in dry dock and not in space.  The producers said they used some creative license in the film so…maybe that’s the case with this.

I just think the one with colors is prettier.

  4. Perhaps, like the movie, the second poster is a prequel to the first poster?

  5. LOL - Now it all makes sense!
