Screen Actor’s Guild Awards winners and log
The Screen Actor’s Guild Awards results are in and not only will you get the list of winners below, but also a log of the night from a bit after the first 30 minutes or so of the telecast.
How did it turn out? Some good wins for people, especially the 30 Rock cast, with Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. The Sopranos win big, with Edie Falco and James Gandolfini taking home awards, plus the entire cast won for Best Drama.
What did you think of the winners and how it played out?
Mike’s SAG Awards journal
6:39pm - Through four awards, it is obviously the Sopranos’ night.
6:43pm - Tina Fey wins for Female Actor in a Comedy Series! Hooray!
6:47pm - Alec Baldwin wins for 30 Rock, but he isn’t in attendance and what a shame that is.
6:51pm - The Office wins their second consecutive SAG for Ensemble Comedy Cast…how awesome. I figured it would be 30 Rock, but I’m happy either way. Jenna Fischer is so cute!
7:00pm - Charles Durning gets a lifetime achievement award for over 100 movie and 200 television appearances. His latest TV job was on one of my favorite shows, Rescue Me, although that character is long gone now. He won the Purple Heart 3 times! He was in All in the Family, Dog Day Afternoon and Tootsie. I would like to note that the seating chart people could have put the poor old man up front instead of making him walk an hour to get to the stage. The guy’s like 85!
7:22pm - Mickey Rooney presents an award and says, “People always ask me if I’m still working…well, I get to open an envelope tonight…and being 87, THAT’S work!” Hilarious Mickey!
7:27pm - In memoriam: Merv Griffin,Roscoe Lee Browne, James Callahan, Tom Poston, Lcuiano Pavarotti, Jane Wyman, Deborah Kerr, Heath Ledger…some of the names I recognized.
7:39pm - A huge upset as Ruby Dee wins Female Supporting Actor for American Gangster, when I think everyone figured Cate Blanchett would get it for I’m Not There. Her first nomination and win.
7:52pm - Daniel Day Lewis wins Best Actor, of course, for There Will Be Blood. He won this category previously for Gangs of New York. His speech included a little tribute to Heath Ledger, which was pretty cool. He dedicated his award to Ledger, a classy move.
7:57pm - Julie Christie wins for Best Actress in Away from Her, a movie I’ve not seen yet. Angelina Jolie loses this one and wasn’t even nominated for an Oscar, so that’s a bummer, she sure deserved it. And Ellen Page was also in this category and lost, but she had no chance really.
8:02pm - Wow, almost on time here…No Country for Old Men wins the big Ensemble Cast for a Motion Picture and it’s well deserved. Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Woody Harrelson…so many good actors, and the performances were amazing. Congrats to them for the win, and to the Coen Brothers for another awesome movie.
