The big AML free movie poster contest!

I’ve been wanting to do something fun for awhile now to help promote the site, but also to thank those of you who have been supporting me for awhile now. So I’m going to run a little contest here at A Mike Life, or AML as I like to shorten it, and see how much fun we have.

I wish I had some huge prize to give away for a contest, but since this place is still in its infant stages, we’ll keep this one a bit smaller, but hopefully still pretty cool.

What is the prize?The Godfather

A free movie poster of your choosing!

Obviously, there are some limits to this. We’ll be sticking to normally priced posters, so if you are looking to grab some vintage, one-of-a-kind Godfather original worth $250, that probably wont happen.

What you can get are some awesome looking posters for such movies as:

This is around a $25-30 prize, so if there is a poster out there you’ve been wanting to get that falls into that range, it’s yours. The links above take you to AllPosters.com and MovieGoods.com, so you can browse those two sites for ideas.

How many prizes?

Well, being the first contest ever on A Mike Life, I have no idea what kind of response this will get, so I’m going to wing it.

There will be ONE poster given away for every 20 entries, up to THREE total posters.

That will hopefully give some decent odds at actually nabbing a poster, depending obviously on how many entires come in, and not suddenly put me on the line for 10+ posters!

How do you enter?

Obviously this contest is also meant as a way to spread the word about this site and to build some new traffic and hopefully find some new readers. To that point, the contest is only open to other bloggers out there.

If you don’t have a blog yet, maybe it’s time to start one?

Entering the contest is simple:

  1. Write a quick blog on your site about this contest and link back to this blog post.
  2. Leave a comment here saying your blog has been posted and hopefully CommentLuv will pick up your RSS feed for that post correctly. If not, I’ll find it anyways by your comment.
  3. If you feel like putting in the name of the poster you’d love to win, add that to your comment.

That is all you need to do to enter. I’ll be gathering the entries in a spreadsheet, print them out, drop the names into a hat and my VERY honest wife Jina will draw the winners.

The lucky winner(s) will be announced in a special blog post, with their choices for posters, WHY they chose them and of course a link back to their blog.

Deadline

The deadline for this contest is Wednesday, January 16th at 7 PM EST. Once the deadline passes, I’ll notify the winners, give them some time to pick out a poster and then announce them on Friday the 18th.

Good luck!

I hope this is a fun little contest for everyone and that the prize is worth going after. I know if I had ONE extra room in this house, it would be dedicated to GUY stuff and I’d have my Terminator 2 original poster up, plus my Braveheart and Shawshank Redemption one-sheets.

And right next to them would be my Jack Bauer Kicking Down A Door model.

Movie posters have always been awesome to me and I still have about 20 of them in the closest from my days working for AMC (which was A LONG time ago).

So good luck to all of you, I look forward to seeing how this goes!

  1. While I am VERY honest, that doesn’t mean I can’t be bribed. :) In my distorted Mike Life world, both of those things can mutually survive.

  2. Movie posters?!?! Its time for the Cap’n to create a site!!!! Now, If I could get Jason/Scott/Ape/MO traffic it would be a hit!

  3. Oh, so “Jina” is going to pick the winner, is she? Well, congratulations, Ape, for somehow winning all three posters…

    Just kidding.

This is a cool idea. Since I have some vintage movie posters of my very own (which my wife will not let me put up) already, I’ll take my name out of the running. I fully support the contest, though, and will spread the word accordingly.

    Good luck everybody!
