The ‘Downfall’ of HD-DVD (R-rated)

(this video does contain some strong language, so be warned)

I came across this video on Thursday and it spoke to me. Yes, mainly because it sort of mimics my own demise in that my newly purchased HD-DVD player from December is already on its way to becoming a collector’s item.

The video above uses the apex moment from the film Downfall, which I’ve actually seen and totally loved. The movie is about Adolf Hitler in his final days of his life, hidden away in a Berlin bunker at the end of World War II.

Obviously, doing a parody on anything related to the holocaust seems inappropriate, but it’s not a big deal here at all. The scene used totally fits the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray war and it’s pretty funny.

I totally love the Lord of the Rings moment at the end, it made me laugh, but also kind of made me cry.

Again, the video has a few moments of harsh language.

On a side note, if you haven’t seen the movie, it’s foreign, in sub-titles, but so worth it.

Awesome. There was another use of this scene from Downfall last year, about Hitler getting banned from XBox Live.

Should this version of Downfall get added to your “Not-so-manly Movie Moments”, you cry baby? :)

Mike -send your HD DVD player back now! That will make the Blu Ray victory less painful.

I’m already over it.

I actually bought HD-DVDs, so it’s cost me something :)
