“The Savages” Poster and Trailer With Philip Seymour Hoffman
You’ve probably already heard a lot about “The Savages” (official site) based mostly on the work of Philip Seymour Hoffman. The film is getting a lot of recognition, but it’s Hoffman’s acting, once again, that is getting the greatest amount of attention. He’s pretty much great in anything and everything he does and his recent Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Charlie Wilson’s War” proves that. Of course, Laura Linney isn’t exactly an acting slouch either.

“The Savages” is an irreverent, heartbreaking story revolving around a modern American family. This film portrays an all-too-common dilemma: after drifting apart emotionally and geographically over the years, two single siblings Wendy (Laura Linney) and Jon (Philip Seymour Hoffman) must band together to care for an elderly parent (Philip Bosco). Visiting their father in his nursing home and their father’s eventual death helps each sibling to better deal with their love relationships with others.I think the preview looks good, but I really like the poster for some reason. It just seems kind of fun and quirky like I expect the movie to be. Of course, the film is actually dealing with some serious topics so I’m not sure if it’s exactly the feel-good movie of the year or anything, but it looks like it could be pretty entertaining if you can find it playing anywhere.
