"Look, we got it covered. We’re just trying to find a place to put Mike’s yogurt while we do the job." - Sam,       Burn Notice

‘Untraceable’ unworthy of watching?

When I saw the previews for Untraceable starring Diane Lane, I sort of chuckled to myself. I mean, I think Lane is a good actress and all, but this looked liked one of those high technology films where someone totally miscast plays the genius behind it all.

Diane Lane is very attractive and has a sultry voice, so seeing her in the position of a special technology FBI agent who’s team tracks down an internet killer just seems completely unbelievable.

It appears that the critics are agreeing. At least, with the movie sucking. The film is only getting a paltry 18% on Rotten Tomatoes and there have been some pretty hilarious excepts from reviewers on the film.

Jeanne Aufmuth: “Life is too short for long-term exposure to relentless agony and distress, even in the guise of entertainment.

Josh Larsen: “When Lane isn’t preaching about the heinous violence, she’s babbling on in tech speak. It’s like having a Dell rep describe the plot of Saw.

Nathan Lee: Untraceable hasn’t the brains of a class-act psychothriller like Silence of the Lambs, and lacks the balls to juice up the trashy verve of the Saw series. Stuck in the middle, it leaves everyone stranded, actors and audience alike.

Again, I’ve not seen it, so I can’t really pass judgment, but usually an 18% on RT means a movie can be counted on to be a stinker.

Were you looking forward to it or did you get the same impression I did?
