Battlestar Galactica season 4 to premiere on April 4th

We’ve heard quite a few different dates for the new season of Battlestar Galactica to start, but now it appears that we have a hard and final answer.

Mark Verheiden, one of the main writers and executive producers of Battlestar Galactica posted on his blog that it appears to be April 4th that we’ll see the final season begin.

And I suspect the whole BATTLESTAR GALACTICA loving world knows this already, but the official Sci-Fi channel premiere date for the post-RAZOR season four is now FRIDAY, APRIL 4.

The funny thing is that all of Sci Fi’s promos say March on them…so while I take his word as being true, there is still some chance that he might be wrong?

If that’s the case, was there no point to this blog? OF COURSE THERE WAS, I got to talk about Galactica for a bit.

An interesting note is that Verheiden warns fans to be on the lookout for potential spoilers as the first two episodes have gone out as review copies already and he’s worried that tidbits will be hitting the web soon enough.

The last thing he tells us is something kind of interesting:

Just to reiterate for concerned fans, the first eleven episodes of season four were shot and wrapped before the strike, and I believe the plan was always to break this part of season four into two ten episodes chunks, so… you’ll get the full measure of BSG once the show begins to run.

This essentially means that the writer’s strike hasn’t really messed with things. I had heard rumors early on that we wouldn’t get the final season all at once, that they might split it up. So that appears to be true and we’ll likely be banging our heads waiting for that last “chunk.”

As a bonus, here are some cool little quick promos for Season 4.

This first one is a doozy.
