NBC was the first to announce last week that they would begin streaming some of the classic TV shows on their family of websites including NBC.com, SCIFI.com, ChillerTV.com and SleuthChannel.com beginning this month. CBS followed suit by posting full seasons of several of its classic TV programs in high quality on CBS.com.
The only thing I can say is that I wonder what took so long. The networks have had these shows for a long time and most of them have been out of syndication as well. With the proliferation of video sites half the episodes were probably already available online anyway. At least now the networks will be able to control the quality of the shows and make a little bit of money from advertising at the same time. It’s good for the consumers (viewers) as well as we now have access to some classic shows that we might not have been able to watch before.

The Classic Television Shows CBS Is Offering Online
- “Star Trek” – The Original Series
- “The Twilight Zone” – Seasons 1 and 2
- “MacGyver” – Season 1
- “Hawaii Five-O” – Season 1

With NBC and CBS both getting in on the action I would expect to see the other networks and pretty much anyone who owns some older television shows to follow suit. Should make for some good online TV viewing.

Do you think this was a result of the agreement from the writers strike?

Yeah, I was kind of thinking it might be although I haven’t heard anything definite.
Cool Buck Rodgers and Miami Vice!!!
I’m actually going to enjoy watching the old Battlestar Galactica’s a bit, just to see what the original was like…
You’ve never seen the original? It was a good show and I haven’t seen them in a long time. I will probably enjoy watching those again.

Of course, Ape could be watching it on UHD, in beautiful HD, but he ignored my blog about it
The original BG was so different from the new one as to be a completely different show. I mean, the basic concept is similar, but so much is different…
