If you watched the Super Bowl on Sunday, it probably means you paid attention to the commercials more than the game and you likely saw a little music video by Kina (above), who was the winner of the big Crash The Super Bowl music contest with her original song, Message from your Heart.
Some will remember I wrote briefly about this back in December, where I had Kina as my favorite and Landon Austin as my other, so I’m so glad she ended up winning. The video was pretty cool, but I just think she has an amazing sound. She calls the music she writes “indie pop”, so that of course is right up my alley.
She gets a record deal from Interscope out of the whole thing and had that video made and played during the game. I have to say, it was kind of a cool anti-American Idol method of getting a new musician into the spotlight.
You can find her music on iTunes right now, so I may head there myself.
Now Landon Austin is also pretty great and I was thrilled that each ended up in the Final 3 for this contest. He’s a Christian artist according to his bio and I found a video of both of them together singing Landon’s song, Waitin, which I totally DIG.
He also filmed a music video for the Super Bowl for Waitin, and you can see it below:

I’m not sure if Landon’s music will ever be out there for purchase, but somehow I think he’ll do alright.
You can read Kina’s latest blogs and thank-yous to everyone by visiting Two Weeks for Kina.
Here is the Kina, Landon duet.

I like both of them but I think I like Landon more. The duet is pretty sweet, though.

Although what do I know about music, afterall I’m an idiot and like Snow Patrol…
I thought Kina’s was…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…just OK.

Well, she definitely isn’t Nickelback, Scotty
No she’s not. Just boring.
But seriously, is that the best they had? Both she and Landon were OK singers, just not the kind of excitement I’d expect for the Super Bowl, esp for $3mil.

Have you listened to their stuff? I don’t think either are boring, just more mellow than you may like.
They WERE voted in by the fans out there, not by the people putting the ads up…
