New “10,000 B.C.” Trailer Is Jurassic Parky

I’m actually a Roland Emmerich fan even though most people who like movies tend to look down on his. Say what you want, but I had a lot of fun watching the movies he’s directed that include Independence Day, Stargate, The Patriot, and The Day After Tomorrow.

10,000 B.C. (official site) is his latest offering. In 10,000 B.C., a member of a primitive tribe during the dawn of man, 21-year-old mammoth hunter D’Leh (Steven Strait), travels through unknown lands on a quest to rescue his people from extinction. D’Leh, leading an army, uncovers a lost civilization in pursuit of a warlord who kidnapped his love, Evolet (Camilla Belle). D’Leh and his army encounters saber-toothed cats and other prehistoric predators in the journey to save his tribe. Check out the latest trailer.

10,000 B.C. Trailer #2 in HD

Now, I have to admit, this trailer makes the whole thing look a lot like Jurassic Park with the mammoths running and everything. Well, the first half anyway. The second half looks more like a sequel to the movie version of Stargate. And I know I’m not an Anthropologist (though I am married to one so maybe I should ask), but I’m pretty sure the whole massive civilization/domesticated mammoths/10,000 B.C. date thing doesn’t sound all that accurate.

10,000 B.C. Poster

Don’t get me wrong. It still looks like a rockin’ good time to me. I know it’s not going to be Oscar quality or anything like that, but there’s a chance it could be a lot of escapist fun for a couple of hours and sometimes that’s all I want.

10,000 B.C. is set to open in theaters on March 7, 2008.

  1. I think I’ll catch it on DVD… besides I haven’t been to a movie since… uh… umm… well, ah, VeggieTales and the Pirates who Don’t Do Anything - or something like that.

Hey, shut up. I’ve got a 4 year old and one on the way.

  2. I think this will be a “Mike sees it early in the afternoon on his own since his wife would never want to see cavemen and woolly mammoths running around like idiots…”

I loved Independence Day, the Day After Tomorrow…they were all good fun, so this could be the same.

  3. Yeah, my wife is pretty much on the same page as yours. You know they always talk about being supportive and doing things together, yet why are we the ones that have to give up our likes. Women…

Hmmm, this post may have started a domestic dispute at the ThinkBox household for no apparent reason.

  4. Well, my wife will go see it with me. But as I mentioned, she studied Anthropology so when we get home she’ll want to tell me every single thing that is historically inaccurate about the movie. Heck, judging by the commercials, she’ll probably have to start during the movie.

  5. In that case, you might want to leave the wife at home Jason :)

  6. I got Deja Movie when I saw the commercial for this one. I thought immediately of Scorpion King starring ‘The Rock’.

  10. Ah, yes. Now I’ve gone and made an ape of myself. You did change your icon, though.

  11. Yes I did - to match my new theme. :)
