Saturday Night Live returns with Tina Fey on February 23rd

With the strike over, there is just a ton of news coming in on all of our favorite shows, so bear with me as I try to sort out the best of the best.

Don’t ask me why, but I still enjoy watching Saturday Night Live. I think it’s the idea that there is usually one or two good sketches, plus the Weekend Update which is always hilarious to me. I know a lot of people have given up on it because it’s pretty rare to find something funny, but they’ve had their moments and it’s worth being tuned in to see them.

I’ve missed the show being on, and as one that is obviously done live and depends on the writers, it’s been away for quite awhile.

Now it’s back on February 23rd and I couldn’t be happier.

But the best part of all is the hosts they’ve chosen for the first two episodes.

First, you all know I have a big time crush on Tina Fey and so the fact that she’s hosting the February 23rd episode makes me all giddy inside. She and Amy Poehler on Weekend Update used to kill me and she’s moved on to one of the best comedies on television right now in 30 Rock.

That should be great fun. I think this might be her first time hosting the show after leaving, but I could be wrong.

And the host on the following week (March 1st) will be the cute star of the Oscar nominated Juno, Ellen Page.

She’s got a great wit and should be pretty good.

SNL will try to do four episodes in a row, which is unusual for the series since it’s normally not more than three in a row before they take a break. They are hoping to get six or eight new episodes before the season ends.

  1. I’m glad it’s coming back too… especially because their political satires are some of the best things they do and the field is ripe for some of that right now.

Plus, it’s not so hard to watch with a DVR… making the subpar sketches easy to skip through.

  2. Come on, you guys really just like it because of Tina. She and Jina share a few mannerisms and resemble each other.
