WGA, AMTPT reach potential deal, strike to end this week?
From what is being reported by the New York Times, the WGA Strike could be over by the end of the week.
It’s been going on for so long that I almost forgot that it might actually end sometime. Some of our favorite new shows are in danger of not returning, others will miss the second half of the season and some will just be gone forever.
But there could actually be some hope for at least some more episodes this season to be produced.
From the New York Times:
Informal talks between representatives of Hollywood’s striking writers and production companies have eliminated the major roadblocks to a new contract, which could lead to a tentative agreement as early as next week, according to people who were briefed on the situation but requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak.
The agreement may come without renewed formal negotiations between the television and movie writers and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, though both sides still need to agree on specific language of key provisions. If that process goes smoothly, an agreement may be presented to the governing boards of the striking Writers Guild of America West and Writers Guild of America East by the end of next week, the people said.
You can read the entire article over at the Times, but I’m just excited that thing has a chance to end.
Considering Scrubs is on the edge of never finishing it’s final season, this could be great news for fans. Battlestar Galactica begins in April for its last season as well, so this REALLY bodes well for that show.
Lost just started its eight episode run, and this could give them a chance to finish the last eight.
Stay tuned for more developments.
