WGA and AMTPT reach deal, according to sources

The Movie Blog and Nikki Finke are both reporting that a deal has been reached between the Writer’s Guild of America and the AMTPT (too long to write out, I don’t care).

According to their reports, each side is taking the deal back to their people to get approval before signing off. The WGA sent a letter to all their members, here is a portion of it:

As Negotiating Committee Chair John Bowman wrote you last night, we are continuing to negotiate the terms of a tentative agreement with the AMPTP. We anticipate that we will be able to present the terms of that agreement to you in the next few days. In order to have a full discussion with you of the terms and how they were reached, and in order to get your input before making recommendations or decisions, we have scheduled membership meetings for current-active members only for this Saturday, February 9, in New York and Los Angeles.

I have to say, that the fact that this strike could be ending makes me sad for one tiny, ridiculous reason. Forever it seems now, my answering machine at home has said something to the effect of “If you aren’t a Suns fan, we’re not interested”…it got some laughs and some pretty interesting messages left by people.

I hadn’t changed it in over a year, maybe two…so of course Tuesday on my way home from Vegas, I had a sudden thought, so when I walked in the door I checked the messages and recorded a new greeting:

“You’ve reached Mike and Jina and if it weren’t for the writer’s strike, this message would be a lot funnier.”

Now, it might not really sound that funny, but that’s kind of the point right?

The downside is that I MAY get a few more days out of it, possibly a week before this strike ends and I’ll have to change it again.

Blerg.

  1. WOOT!!! I hope this goes through. Reality and Reality TV are killing me right now - I need some serious escapism!

    HooAAA!

  3. [...] it started was whether or not we’d get more episodes once the WGA Strike ends. With things looking very good for the strike to be over fairly soon, that question becomes even more relevant [...]
