2008-03-11_025.jpgVariety is reporting that Len Wiseman has finally lined up his next directing gig after the Escape From New York remake fell through. Wiseman, of course, is married to Kate Beckinsale and is best known for directing the first two Underworld films and one of last summer’s funnest movies, Live Free Or Die Hard (the most successful Die Hard yet).

Wiseman will be directing Shell Game for Lakeshore Entertainment and Columbia Pictures. Shell Game is a sci-fi action thriller set in the future. The film follows a detective who is faced with a moral dilemma as he investigates the dangerous black-market business of immortality. Justin Bondi and Andrew Ludington wrote the original screenplay, while Wiseman and Chris Morgan penned the most recent draft.

“I’ve been wanting to make this film for the past five years, but it’s a huge film and has always been too expensive to make at the level I’ve wanted to make it at,” Wiseman said. “Now I’m finally getting a chance to do it at that level.”

I haven’t heard a single thing about this project until now so I haven’t got anything to share as of yet. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open, though. Len Wiseman directing a big budget, sci-fi action thriller sounds like a rockin’ good time to me.
