On first glance, I have to say I really like the trailer for Meet Bill, a new comedy starring Aaron Eckhart, Elizabeth Banks and a pretty awesome supporting cast.
The trailer doesn’t really hide much about Meet Bill. It’s pretty obvious that Bill (Eckhart) is having a sucky life that keeps getting worse. He has a big gut, his job sucks, his wife, played by Banks, cheats on him, he goes to jail, yadda, yadda, yadda.
It’s nothing original for sure, but the trailer looks pretty funny and I’m starting to really like Eckhart. He was great in Thank You For Smoking and did nicely in No Reservations. By the way, if you haven’t seen Thank You For Smoking, you missed out a truly great comedic achievement.
But alongside Eckhart, you not only get Banks, who is coming off a great role in Definitely, Maybe, but you have Jessica Alba, Timothy Olyphant, Craig Beirko (from Unhitched), Reed Diamond (Woo, Journeyman’s brother!) and some bit parts from Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis (both from Saturday Night Live).
He gets teamed up with Logan Lerman, who plays “The Kid“, and I guess that’s the only name you get. Along with the Kid, they try to get his life back in order. Lerman was just recently in 3:10 to Yuma, playing Christian Bale’s son.
Meet Bill is scheduled to hit theaters on April 4th, but goes wide May 9th. It actually already premiered at the Toronto Film Festival late later year, but has yet to be shown in the States. It is actually known just as Bill on IMDB, but also Meet Bill elsewhere.
