PopCritics update and happenings

First off Jason and I want to just thank you all for migrating over from our old blogs to this new one, so we can totally focus on pop culture and entertainment news, something we both have a passion to write about. If anyone is worried about our old blogs, I think we’ll probably get back to posting things on them again down the road, but right now our focus has been here.

Now on to Pop Critics news and notes.

You’ll notice that we just put up some new advertisements. We just joined the Peerflix Media Network and are glad to have some advertisements that should hopefully relate more to the world of entertainment, videos and pop culture. Peerflix is specific to our industry, so that should bring relevant ads our way. It of course will put a few bucks in our pockets as we grow the site into a bigger and better venue for potential advertisers.

We also are listening to you guys, and feedback is always welcomed. Recently we added a SUBSCRIBE page because a few of you wanted ways to have instant email notifications on new blog posts, so we put that up there, plus the other two ways to subscribe to the site.

In the coming week we’re also going to change up the frontpage just a bit, in an effort to make reading the site a bit easier. Right now we have our main story, and then about 10 other little square excerpts below. Reading older stories requires you to go back to the top, click on the Archives tab and then click on the current month.

Well, we’re going to turn those squares into a normal blog format, so that they display one after the other down the page. And then you’ll be able to go to Page 2, Page 3, etc., and find it a lot easier to read our older stuff.

Since we do tend to put up 7-10 posts a day, we understand how hard it is to keep up on things, so we want to make it as easy as possible.

As I said above, any feedback is welcomed and we’re open to any ideas you have. This site is more about the community than what we like personally, so the more we can integrate what you guys are looking for, the better we’ll all do and the more fun we’ll have.

  1. One of the issues I have is not being able to tell what comments go on what blogs. But that may be asking to much. Like if I put a comment on a specific blog and come back later, I can’t tell which comments are responses on the pertinent blogs. Probably makes no sense, but I’m also probably thinking more in message board rather than blog terms.

  2. It’s great that PopCritics can start earning using Peerflix . Do they have an affiliate program? I did not see it on their sites. Where is their little icon? I don’t want you to get kick out ;)
I was thinking of using it on my movie blog too. $100 is a start :D
Looking forward to the other change too.

  3. @Steve - I’ll look into that affiliate network stuff. Yeah, $100 is a decent start, but let’s hope it builds.

@Michael - You just need to ask for email notifications to your comments and you’ll always know when someone responds to you.

  4. Mike: Never mind. I wanted to join but it’s only for US sites(I’m Canadian). I email them about it and asked for the affiliate too. If I’m lucky, they may accept it or I may have to use another form.
