A new blog to subscribe to - Roger Ebert’s Journal

Well, this is such a cool story to pass on to you guys, thanks to The Movie Blog and Cinematical.

Roger Ebert has opened his first ever blog, called Roger Ebert’s Journal.

It started with very little fanfare, no prior warning or grand opening. It was just suddenly there and he began posting blogs. His first was about Arthur C. Clarke on Monday, and then Tuesday’s article was about his film festival which is sadly going on without him:

The 10th Anniversary Ebertfest begins tonight in Urbana-Champaign. It is with some melancholy that I write these words on a legal pad in a hospital bed in Chicago. After consulting with my doctors, I have decided it may not be prudent to try to make the journey today with a fractured hip.

Sigh. I was really happy with this one. The films, the guests, the friends. Chaz, Nate Kohn, Mary Susan Britt and I had all the pieces in place. The only tweak I didn’t have time for was a proper full-length review of “Shotgun Stories.â€Â? It was on the to-do list. What I’m using now is what I wrote after seeing it at the Chicago Film Festival. The rest is almost a turn-key operation—the little festival that runs itself, with the help of countless volunteers.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Ebert as some of you may know, so reading stuff about his health not being good always bums me out. I long to see him back on At the Movies.

But now that he’s writing in more of a journal-like method, it’s going to be fun to just hear what he has to say on random stuff regarding the movies.

Anyways, visit Ebert’s blog, and subscribe to his feed to keep up on his writing.
