We haven’t written about this yet, and I hadn’t heard of it until last night, but I just had to pass it on to all the Batman fans out there.
Batman: The Gotham Knight is an animated, direct-to-dvd movie made up of six short films by six different creators. There is Josh Olsen from A History of Violence, David S. Goyer who was a writer on Batman Begins and comic book writer, Brian Azzarello are just three of the guys who helped pen these new stories.
The reason this animated film is so awesome is that it bridges the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, releasing on July 18th. It’s also produced by the same guys who made those movies.
Batman: The Gotham Knight comes out on July 8th and the trailer below is flat-out cool. I usually don’t get too into animated stuff, but this one looks like a winner.
The animation from what I can see is pretty slick, and I hear that the six different stories could all look a bit different with the six different creators.
What do you think of the trailer? This might be the first animated feature I run out and rent the week it comes out, because you sort of want to get it done before the movie comes out 10 days later.

Yeah, I’ll be all over that the day it comes out.

This looks super awesome, and is done just like the Animatrix was, several different animated sotries each telling a portion that leads up to the current plot… cant wait!!

Whats really awesome is if you followed any animated Batman series and liked the voiceovers there, for this they obtained Kevin Conroy to do the voice for Batman again in these 6 stories…so recognize its the same dude…
small trivia fact in case anyone cares..
Been looking forward to this for some time. First read about it in Wizard (comic geek magazine).
