“Passchendaele” Movie Poster

Here’s another movie called Passchendaele that we don’t know a whole lot about. According to the poster 20,000 Canadians went into battle in WWI. They were known as the Stormtroopers. 5,000 of them never made it home. Apparently, the film is their story.

The poster is pretty cool although it’s a bit reminiscent of the Band Of Brothers artwork. I think the colors really work, though, and it is certainly eye catching.

If you do even a cursory search for “Passchendaele” on Google you’ll learn that it was a major WWI battle that occurred from July to November of 1917. I recommend checking out the Wikipedia article on the movie as it’s pretty interesting.

Passchendaele has a tentative release date of November 11, 2008.

  1. Not much being written or made about WWI, but it’s an interesting time. This looks like it may be worth checking out.

Scotty Dub’s last blog post..My what a pretty resume you have…

  2. I agree. There area a lot of really good stories about WWI, but not that many movies. Could be good.

  3. It is a good movie I almost cried after I first read the script and it has something for just about everyone, but the movie is based loosley on Paul’s Grandfather Michele Duanne who fought in WW1.

  4. Well, the script it good right? Hopefully the movie will do it justice, unless you’ve seen that already?

  5. Nope not seen it well a little mabye, (ego inflates alittle here) I’m one of the actors.

  6. Well Robert congrats on the role and thanks for stopping by. Keep us updated on the production!

  7. Thanks I had a lot of fun working with Paul!
We just did some ADR work last thursday in Calgary (ADR is voice over work) at “Twisted Pear” Studios adn Paul was there.
He wanted to release it on Nov 11th but Alliance Canada has bumped up the release date to around thanksgiving day in October.
So look for it around then.

  8. Hey Robert. Thanks for dropping by and giving us the heads up on the release date. Tell them they need to send us some promotional materials so we can help get the word out. I love WWI movies.

  13. No I wasn’t in any of the battle scenes I played David and Sarah Mann’s mean neighbour in the movie (Paul had way to much fun beating me up) as well the release date has been moved forward to Oct, 10, 2008 now.

  14. Rob and Dan - good to hear from you again. I was also in the movie. I was thrilled to be an extra in Passchendaele. I travelled from Kingston Ontario to Calgary and stayed there five weeks to be a background extra. For those who are wondering about how well it will be received, I would like to assure you that what I saw was thrilling. When special effects, musical score and all the other goodies are added I am sure that it will make all Canadians proud. 19. [...] showed us the poster back in April, and the Canadian-born Nogier found our story and told us a bit about the film. [...]

  20. From what i can tell its a love story.
The limp wrist jelly spine commie gay movie industry hates war movies. It loves to ruin any chance at making a good one buy being the 1st at totally getting it wrong. I'm sorry but I don't want to watch 3 hours of kissing with the violins playing softly.

  21. Canada sent 700,000 soldiers to europe in WW1 not 20,000. Maybe you were referring to this particular battle.
