“The Spirit” Teaser Hits The Web
The Spirit hype, while still aways off from its January 2009 release date, is starting to heat up. Just today Jason posted the official teaser poster for the movie, and now the teaser has been released and it’s pretty cool.
You can see it below, thanks to Trailer Addict (which has to put out some of the best quality embedded trailers anywhere).
The Spirit, as Jason said, is a former rookie police officer who returns mysteriously from the dead to fight crime in the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy is the Octopus, played by Samuel L. Jackson, and he has a different mission: to wipe out Spirit’s beloved city as part of a plan to pursue his own version of immortality.

I have to say, this teaser is really disappointing to me. It just doesn’t make this movie look interesting to me at all. And maybe it’s just me, but it looks like some of the flips and stuff the character is doing he’s almost falling down…not very graceful.
I disagree - I think the teaser is perfect - and that’s exactly what it is - a teaser. It doesn’t show much of the plot but it gives us a peek at The Spirit in character. And he is intentionally not very graceful because Frank Miller is trying to “humanize” The Spirit as a gift to Will Eisner (Frank Miller is a Romantic while Eisner preferred a humanistic style in his characters). So, overall, I think the teaser did a great job of getting me even more excited for this movie.
