Clooney Is One Of The “Men Who Stare At Goats”

According to Variety, George Clooney will star in, and his Smoke House partner Grant Heslov will direct, Men Who Stare at Goats.

The film is an adaptation of British journalist Jon Ronson’s book about the U.S. Army’s First Earth Battalion, a unit that was to use paranormal powers.  The title apparently refers to the notion that one can kill a goat by staring at it.

The script was written by Peter Straughan and topped the 2007 British List of the best unproduced screenplays.  The project has been around for a while, but international buyers didn’t receive a script until this week at Cannes so the marketing has just started.

  1. I read the title and had no idea it was going to an Army movie!  LOL, I thought it was going to be some silly movie like Oh, Brother.

  2. I can’t see too many guys walking up to the ticket window and saying “Two for Men Who Stare at Goats, please.” :)

  3. Duplicate.  Got a 405 message so I re-posted.  :)

  4. I like Clooney in that he is willing to play a variety of roles, and go from a straight man to a goofball.  I will pretty much see any movie he makes.  I mean he freely admits he ruined Batman.
