Don’t Skip “Iron Man” End Credits - Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury To Make Appearance

This news is hot off the press.  It’s been reported that Samuel L. Jackson’s character from Iron Man, Nick Fury was cut from the film in the final edit.  However, Moviehole has confirmed that Nick Fury will, in fact, be making an appearance in Iron Man after all.  But he won’t be making that appearance until after the credits for the film.

Check out what Australian journalist, Adam Richard, told Moviehole:

“Sam Jackson as Nick Fury is indeed in Iron Man. The final spool of the film was not screened to journos and reviewers as it only arrived in Australia yesterday ahead of premiere screenings. I saw the film a few weeks ago to prep for a Downey Jr interview, and went again last night (cos i loved it SOOOO much!) and at the end of the credits is an awesome 40 seconds or so with Stark and Nick Fury. I may have soiled myself slightly…”

It’s long been a tradition for filmmakers to put small little things at the end of credits to tease or make us laugh.  Cloverfield’s end credits have been the talk of the movie and our article on what was said in those few seconds is one of the most highly visited articles we’ve ever written.  But Iron Man may be taking it to a whole new level by delivering potential plot development in the dialog.

Now, this next bit comes from another journalist who has watched the scene in question so it is a SPOILER FOR THE FILM.  I cannot stress enough that you shouldn’t read this SPOILER if you don’t want to know what happens at the end of the credits because it will SPOIL it for you.  Just a warning.  I really don’t think it’s that bad.

This is what happens in the scene (This is the SPOILER):

“At the end of the credits, Stark comes home and finds Nick Fury in his living room -staring towards the window. He then turns to tell Stark he’s the not the only superhero in the world. Stark asks who he is, and Fury turns and says he’s “Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D, and I’m here to talk to you about The Avengers Initiative”.

So what do you think?  Is this cool or what?  What do you think this means for possible sequels and tie-ins with The Incredible Hulk?

  12. EARLY NON-PROFESSIONAL, POORLY WRITTEN, USELESS OPINION ON IRONMAN BELOW, skip this if you dont want to know anything about Ironman..but come on, how could you skip it?

So the Cap’n saw his anticipated movie of the summer last night in a special premiere, Ironman.  Heard of it?  If you haven’t, make sure you watch the box office totals over this weekend, I’m guessing you might hear of it then.

To start with, advertisements for Ironman continually stated “Opens May 2nd”, when in fact it opened without notice on May 1st, how’d this happen you ask? Director Jon Favreau was being interviewed by some magaizine (I’ dont recall which) and got blasted how was it even remotely possible that Ironman an American born and built hero is opening overseas prior to the USA.  Favreau, stopped the interview and made two calls, and said “Done”.  It wouldnt be broadcast, but theaters will be given permission to show the film a day earlier, just beating the overseas opening times.  Now how cool is that for a start?!?!? So yours truly preordered his tkts and went for the viewing last night…

When you look to rate a premiere opening of a highly anticpated movie, its important to understand you are really rating 3 things, The audience in attendance, the previews, and the movie itself… the whole experience gets rated.

So we start with the audience.  Normally, when you attend an anticipated movie, theres an air of comradarie (sp?) in the air… you are all on the same team, you are there to support your hero or theme.  Everyone is on the same side when you all go to a Star Wars premiere movie, its a fun environment and cool you have something in common with everyone else, you talk to people you might not normally strike up a conversation with.  Unfortunately, this was not the case last night.  I’m not sure how this theater at this time in Az managed to collect the youth of the planet that deemed they ruled the world, but its probably a reason why DVD’s are so popular.  Placed in front of the Capn was Commander moron and his sidekick f-bomb.  The unfortunate part of dolts like this is they feel compelled that they rule the universe, they intend on commenting on everything (preshow ads, previews, and such) LOUDLY,to share their ‘God is pulling souls from the bottom of the bucket’ opinoins with everyone, weather you want them to or not.  I could give an obscene example of these dolts commenting on a Realtor ad that shows here in AZ (Gary Swallows), but I’ll refrain, lo and behold, I had to tell them to Frakkin shut the hell up.  Which they did through the movie thankfully.  Directly behind me sat a guy…how do I describe this.. who seemingly had an INFINITE amount of solid nasal fluid that he felt compelled to try and snort down the back of his throat at mach 5 every 15 seconds. I’m assuming you could all hear him from where ever you were at that time last night…geezus dude…they sell products for that…
The plus side of the crowd, they handed out free issue #1 Ironman and Hulk comic books along with a Ironman hero clix last night, which was pretty cool…
Audience rating: 4 out of 10

After what seems an eternity. so starts the previews…we saw many, The Love Guru (which was typical Mike Myers comedy), Dont mess with Zohan trailer (one listed here on pop critics), The Happening (a new version of it), The Dark Knight (the new bootlegged version we saw the other day), The Hulk (the new version posted here as well), and Indy (also the newest trailer out).  The harmoney within the crowd began.  People were applauding the Dark Knight trailer..
Trailer rating: 10 of 10, the very best were shown

So then it all simmers down, and the main attraction starts.  I’m afraid a bit to give my lowly opinion on the movie.  I remember when Something About Mary came out.  I was last to the party and hadn’t seen it when seemingly everyone and their mom had already.  Most everyone I talked to thought this was “The funniest movie ever made” it was better than a capn crunch sandwhich with dandruff on it, which set my expectations into a mode that the movie could never achieve once I saw it, in fact almost everything was not funny, the expectations everyone gave for it, turned me anti nothing was funny.  Jason even mentioned this week, Ironman is way overhyped, he doesnt think it will be as good as its hyped to be.  Maybe..maybenot, it might be how your expectations of it are… go in with no expectations and ignore how the Capn wanted this movie to be awesome and then go see it.  But what did the Capn think?!?  I’m glad you asked…
It may start off a bit slow for some, but its how you build a movie and character depth.  Robert Downey as Tony Stark / Ironman, there could not have been any other choice.  He did an exceptional job in selling his role and the hero.

Wow.  Simply awesome.  This was the coolest thing I ever saw.  It was really spectacular.

The characters are all believable, the bad guys are bad guys, the action scenes are really really cool, and you feel like you are learning with Stark as he learns to be Ironman.  The cool in this movie is really cool, and depending how closely you follow the Hero universe, the spoiler ending listed above at the end credits, is really cool.  The audience cheered at the end of the movie which was pretty awesome.
Movie rating: Its my favorite movie ever, I wanted this movie to RAWK, and Favreau/Downey NAILED IT.  Couldnt of been better 10 out of 10….
Call in sick and go see this movie now!!  So says the Capn and his useless non-professional movie review of Ironman ;)

  13. Wooo! Nice review Cap’n!

    I’m going tonight, at 4:50 I think!

  14. @Mo thanks!  Thought I would take an early crack at reviewing Ironman!!

  15. @ Cap’n:Wow!  You’ve changed my mind about going to go see it. :) Nice Review!

By the way, I took notes on the shows you missed last night for ya. :)

  16. @AnaDVR thanks! lol which is funny because in all of my kidlike giddyness to go see Ironman I forgot to record my shows (i.e… Smallville), so I’ll need those notes!

  17. Ummm, don’t you have a DVR? How do you forget to record them?????

  18. Yeah man, I for some reason dont have it set to record series shows, i manually do each one, which bit me last night since I was hyper-focused on Ironman and totally spaced it dang it..  :(

  19. Not recording series = may as well get a VCR :)

  20. Oh, yeah, Sorry Cap’n, but I recorded Surviver.  I don’t do Smallville.

  21. GASP..dont do Smallville!?!?… well this season I dont blame ya… wait till Mo posts about next seasons plans a little later…

  22. Wow, Cap’n, that could have been a post…

I’m still apprehensive since I know you went in slightly biased, but I have high hopes it’ll be as good as you say.  I’m looking forward to it.

  23. It’s getting a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes…holy crap.

  24. @Jason thx chief, that means alot.  You need to decide, have no expectations going in, remember Im a little kid at heart when it comes to anything heros, and I wanted this to do well.  Downey was edgy, and all around superb, the movie is hard to sum up, just a really really good film… I look forward to yours and Mo’s comments, even if you dont like it…

  25. hi i saw the movie last night and it was excellent. was just wondering though, the name of the song that plays when the end credits start. what is it called?
