Nathan Fillion as the next Indiana Jones?
There is an interesting discussion being tossed around the entertainment blogosphere this week, which was hatched by CC2K.
I believe the post originated because of some rumors that Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford have talked about a FIFTH Indy movie being made down the road. I know I saw an article on it, but I can’t for the life of me find it.
Well, Tony Lazio at CC2K came up with a great idea to continue the series and who to cast as the next Indiana Jones: Nathan Fillion.
The suggestion is to take the Indiana Jones franchise and turn it into another James Bond series. Why end it? Perhaps keep it going on with new stories.
There is a discussion going on where people are debating whether or not it makes sense to do this. James Bond had been around in books well before any movie was made, so it felt right to keep it going with different actors over the years.
But Indiana Jones was just a movie series with Harrison Ford as the star. Could it come back with another guy as the lead?
I think it really depends on who you get to do it. And honestly, Fillion could really be that guy. He has a great humor and charm about him, can be an action star as we saw in Firefly, Serenity and even Drive, and this might be the perfect time in his career to put him into a role like that.
The other problem is: Is it appropriate to keep it going like this? Should it begin and end with Ford? Does it ruin the saga if the movies continue on without him?
I really don’t know what to think about it. On one hand, I absolutely LOVE Fillion and think he’d be perfect for a role like this. On the other hand, maybe it should end? But if they are going to keep talking about sequels, there is only so much an “elderly” Ford can keep doing.
What do you guys think?
