Official “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” Movie Poster

There isn’t much buzz surrounding this summer’s release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I blame it on the fact that the movie is animated…and the pictures really haven’t looked that good. This poster doesn’t help convince me otherwise.

On the front lines of an intergalactic struggle between good and evil, fans young and old will join such favorite characters as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala, along with brand-new heroes like Anakin’s padawan learner, Ahsoka. Sinister villains — led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous — are poised to rule the galaxy. Stakes are high, and the fate of the Star Wars universe rests in the hands of the daring Jedi Knights. Their exploits lead to the action-packed battles and astonishing new revelations that fill Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The theatrical release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars tells an all-new story that leads directly in to this fall’s premiere of a weekly, animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series on Cartoon Network, followed by airings on TNT.

The trailer for the film will be released tomorrow across five Turner networks simultaneously. At 7:58 p.m. in all U.S. time zones, Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN, and Boomerang will debut an action-packed, two-minute preview of the animated adventure from creator George Lucas and Lucasfilm Animation. It marks the first time a theatrical trailer has received a simultaneous, cross-network airing on Turner Networks. The trailer debuts in theaters on Friday, May 9 (and probably around the same time on the web).

Star Wars: The Clone Wars will hit theaters on August 15, 2008.

  1. They look like Legos….

  2. Once again it confirms my theory that George Lucas should not be in charge of his own empire. He is single handedly destroying it bit by bit, line by line…Maybe George should hire Jason Castro, William Hung, and Clay Aiken and they can make Star Wars: The Musical.

  3. @Ape oh for everything holy , please dont even suggest that… I assume in the musical Sanjaya would play Princess Amidala??

  4. Unfortunately there is nothing holy about Star Wars anymore…aSanajaya could play both the Queen and the Princess.

    I’m just saying.

  6. @ Mike - ROTFL - brilliant. Do you think Ramiele Malubay should play Yoda or a Jawa?

  7. Might have to play both, they’ll likely be low on the AI Contestants to Star Wars characters ratio.

  8. This poster is not good, especially considering today’s animation capabilities.

  9. That’s what they said about the Cap’n - but that hasn’t stopped him from posting up a storm… :)

  10. Ah, a pun. Nice. There’s hardly any good puns anymore.

  11. This looks like a rental. I hope the live action TV series is better.

  12. The poster sucks so I’ll pass. Somewhere Yoda is crying.

  13. …large, animated, pixelated, tears…
