“Smallville” finale thoughts and looking forward
The Smallville finale was last week and it was less than a desirable finish to the seventh season. In fact, if I hadn’t been invested in the series for so long now, I’m sure I’d just call it quits.
The best part is that one of the worst parts of the series, Lana Lang, is adios for awhile. At least, word is Kristin Kreuk will only make guest appearances next season. I applaud that move. The less Lana the better.
In the finale, after Clark defeats Brainiac, the writers somehow thought we’d buy her quick return to conciousness and instant recording of a DVD that she used to break up with the Man of Steel.
Are you kidding me? Sure, the video good-bye is usually an interesting way to do that moment, but it just made zero sense here and truly made me detest Lana even more.
Finally, Lex Luthor found the object Veritas had been trying to hide forever: A way to control Clark.
Yet, when he finally has it and meets Clark in the fortress, all it does is make things crash down around him. What exactly does the thing do? I thought it was supposed to give the bearer control over the Traveler, but all it did was bring down the house.
Usually if a Smallville season sucks, the finale ends up being pretty good. This one had no semblance of making sense in my opinion.
Next season could be interesting though, because Lex and Lana are both gone, and there will be some new villains. Not only that, but Chloe is confirmed to be in season eight, so that’s good news.
And perhaps the best news of all are the rumors that Justin Hartley, The Green Arrow, appears to be in talks to return to Smallville next year. He was a bright spot in season six for sure, along with his sidekicks.
Time to make Clark grow up, find his place at the Daily Planet, join his Justice League friends, learn to fly and start saving the world.
I doubt it will happen, but it would be nice.

And I thought I was the only one who doesn’t care for Lana.
Lex is leaving ,huh? They had better have some good villains…as I (even if I know the ending) tend to pull for the bad guys LOL
Yeah Dianna, you are not alone with your hatred of Lana. I think about 95% of Smallville fans have disliked her for awhile now
Lex is leaving, but may do some guest appearances here and there.
He had better make some guest appearances!!
