Kevin Costner is back this August with his first movie in a year, this one called Swing Vote.
He’s not alone. The supporting cast is pretty great: Kelsey Grammar, Dennis Hopper, Stanley Tucci, Paula Patton, Nathan Lane, Judge Reinhold, plus cameos from Larry King, Mary Hart, Bill Maher, Willie Nelson and others.
From what you can gather from the trailer, Costner plays a guy named Bud Johnson who’s daughter forces him to vote in the election. Some error happens with his ballot, and in a pretty contrived plot device, his vote needs to be recast to decide the Presidential election. It’s tied.
But he’s not really ready to do it right away.
The last good movie I saw Costner in was The Upside of Anger from 2005, so I’m hoping this one turns out alright. The story itself is pretty far-fetched to say the least, but it could work as a comedy if done right.
Here is the trailer for the film, and the poster follows it. The movie comes out on August 1st.

I don’t know why, but I almost always like Costner movies.
And if the last good one you saw him in was The Upside Of Anger you obviously did not see Mr. Brooks.
Didn’t see Mr. Brooks, nope.
I usually like Costner’s movies, but he hasn’t made many good ones lately. And I don’t see this reversing the trend. This looks bad on almost every level. Unless by some cosmic twist of fate this just gets crazy good reviews, I don’t even see this landing in our queue.
Scotty Dubs last blog post..Add more hours to your day
just do not see this one having much mileage.
I’ll pass on this one. I like his as the strong hero type, not the loser Dad type.
The pretense for this movie is absurd. Obviously no one that wrote the story line went to school. Th electoral college is designed in such a way that individual votes do not matter, but the overall majority buys a state.
Maybe the next time someone makes a movie they will make it past ninth grade.
