My hopes run thin for next season’s Smallville, mostly because it’s steadily gone downhill in recent years, and now we’ll be treading a watery grave WITHOUT Lex Luthor and Lana Lang.
I can do without Lana anyday of the week, but losing two critical cast members cannot be good. Especially when one of them is Clark’s nemesis.
Yet the series WILL continue without both, and we’ll be getting a few new villains to cause Clark restless nights on the farm.
The first will be Davis Bloome, a charismatic paramedic in Metropolis. He has a growing darkness inside him, and fans of the series are thinking he just might be Doomsday, the invincible villain that kills Superman in the comics.
Bloome will be played by Sam Witwer, who was most recently was on Battlestar Galactica as Alex “Crashdown” Quartararo.
Cassidy Freeman is also joining the cast and will play Tess Mercer, Lex’s hand-picked successor.
Look, as much bashing as Smallville has had piled on it lately let me remind you all… as sucky as season 7 was,,, it was STILL leaps and bounds (ha, like that tie in?!?!) better than that trash show bionic woman…

I think it is smart that the guy will be playing a paramedic, since most episodes at one point or another make a trip to the Smallville hospital. Easy plot transition.

Although he IS from Metropolis…yet somehow I think he'll make it to Smallville Medical Center (whatever it's called) sooner or later

Season 6 was horrible and season 7 was just as bad. I believe season 5 was the last truely great season. The whole Lana and Lex ruined season 6 for me. I just didn't care for it. And I didn't care for supergirl in season 7. I don't care for Lex or Lana anymore so I'm fine if their gone. I look forward to the changes. This may be the last season I think so hopefully they pull out all they got and deliver a great season.
