TheBadandUgly.com has posted some new photos of Matt Damon on the set of the Warner Brothers Pictures film, The Informant. Damon put on some extra weight for the role and lost his Jason Bourne look so he’d look more like…well, the rest of us, I guess. I wouldn’t let my daughter go near this guy if he was at the local pool.
The comedic thriller, The Informant, is an adaptation of Kurt Eichenwald’s book “The Informant: A True Story” about a bizarre financial scandal. Damon stars as Mark Whitacre, a top executive at the Archer Daniels Midland corporation who was willing to act as a government witness to a vast international price-fixing conspiracy. Whitacre was the highest level executive to turn whistle-blower in U.S. history. Interestingly enough, working for the FBI didn’t do much to help Whitacre’s severe bipolar disorder nor did it stop him form embezzling millions from his employers while working with the “good guys.” He ended up serving more than eight years in prison and was released in 2006 (and soon became a COO at a bio-tech firm - I kid you not).
One of the coolest things about the movie is that Scott Bakula will be playing the main FBI guy in the film which I think is a nice bit of casting.
It was one of the FBI’s biggest secrets: a senior executive with America’s most politically powerful corporation, Archer Daniels Midland, had become a confidential government witness, secretly recording a vast criminal conspiracy spanning five continents. Mark Whitacre, the promising golden boy of ADM, had put his career and family at risk to wear a wire and deceive his friends and colleagues. Using Whitacre and a small team of agents to tap into the secrets at ADM, the FBI discovered the company’s scheme to steal millions of dollars from its own customers. But as the FBI and federal prosecutors closed in on ADM, using stakeouts, wiretaps, and secret recordings of illegal meetings around the world, they suddenly found that everything was not all that it appeared.
The Informant is directed by Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Solaris, The Good German, Ocean’s Thirteen, Che). The screenplay was adapted by Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum).
The Informant is currently set to arrive in theaters on March 27th, 2009.
This cements my theory that many celebrities today wouldn't get two glances (or garner any “sexist man alive” type-accolades) if they weren't famous or didn't have a team of people constantly making them look good and stay in shape. Sorry, Matt Damon.
Sounds like a good movie - I'll definitely be looking forward to this one.

Scott Bakula cast and its about an archer daniels informant… Bakula was Archer on Enterprise… coincidence?!?! Hows that for Captain placement?!
