New “W” Teaser Poster Proves Oliver Stone Is Full Of Crap

When word first came out that Oliver Stone was pimping a movie about George W. Bush called W everyone pretty much thought the same thing - it’s going to be a Bush Bash Extravaganza. Stone tried to convince us that the film would be an accurate portrayal of the President, but we all knew that was crap.

If there were any doubt (and I don’t think there was much), the teaser poster for W should put that doubt to rest. The poster is pretty much just a bunch of random quotes from Bush. However, they are the dumbest quotes he’s ever uttered.

I mean, I know the guy said the stuff. I’m not arguing that point. My point is simply that Stone makes it clear by putting those quotes on the poster that he has no intentions of showing President Bush as anything other than a bumbling idiot. Any talk of actually trying to strike a balance of any kind is just crap. This movie is nothing more than a liberal Bush bashing designed to hit theaters right before the election to try to help elect a Democratic president.

Amen!

And some of those are pretty funny - funnier than I am even.

Sounds like someone’s a too sensitive Republican. ;-)

That said I don’t think there was ever any question that this movie wasn’t going to show Bush in a flattering light. But c’mon, he’s such an easy target, can we really blame Stone?

I love the title of this article. I don’t understand why people cannot respect the office and leave the man alone.

I get the whole thing about him sounding dumb, but I think the problem is that people use it to make him out to be a complete idiot.

I know he sounds ridiculous sometimes, but honestly…is a speech impediment or whatever, a sign of bad intelligence, or just a physical problem?

On a side note, whatever the case, this is a great poster.

Granted all the quotes are slanted in one direction, but the man does have a less than stellar track record business wise from his pre-white house days.

Jason is right in that Oliver Stone is misleading us by saying that the portrayal of George W will be ‘fair’. Stone is going to portray dialog and scenarios that he can’t really say he witnessed so he’s just going to give us his interpretation of it. Not really fair no matter what side of the party line you’re on. And Stone has already begun to market the movie to the Bush-basher crowd with this poster.

Personally, I think it’s totally accept to bash or praise a public figure for their work. But the bashing of the silly things he says is a cheap shot that doesn’t really help our country.

Ana, I agree that we should leave man alone for who he is as a person. But again, if people take issue with some of his policies, it’s fair and necessary for citizens to voice their displeasure. And that’s for any public official.

See, I totally agree with Adrian that it’s fair and their right to do whatever they want.

My big thing is…are we making fun of his decisions during office, or the way he talks?

Because there are a lot of people out there with speed impediments who you’d never DARE make fun of because it’s actually a problem.

Now, who knows if he even has a problem, but he did get to be president…

we should not be too shocked when the likes of stone or michael “i need to go on the subway diet” moore make movies like this. the timing is right for the liberals to get their jabs in now. come january the tides will turn and their window of opportunity to proper financially will close significantly.

what hurts bush even more in a situation like this is his presidency followed the smoothest talkin’ politician we have seen since JFK. that only made his speech stumbling that much worse.

I agree with what you guys are saying. I think it’s fine for Olive Stone to make whatever kind of movie he wants - even making fun of the way Bush speaks if he so desires. If he can raise the money to make it, he has that right in America.

The problem I have with him is his earlier assertion that the film would be a fair portrayal and then the first piece of marketing material he releases is so obviously skewed to the Bush hating crowd it could almost be a campaign poster for the Democrats.

I also take exception to what is on the poster. I know that Bush spoke the words. I know that he’s said a LOT of silly and ridiculous things over the years. Then again, all Presidents and politicians have said stupid things if they’ve been doing it very long. These people speak for a living and they do a LOT of talking. There’s no way they aren’t going to trip over their words at some point. You could probably find similar quotes for almost anyone. Clinton was known to say a few crazy things in his time (what is the definition of the word “is”?).

The fact is, however, that no person could ever achieve the position of President of the United States and be the complete moron that people like Stone seem to think Bush is. It’s just not possible. I think it’s absurd and demeaning to the office of the Presidency and our nation to imply or portray an imbecile somehow “accidentally” becoming President.

It offends me.

Personally, I think Bush is the worst president in the history of the United States. He gets off lightly being teased all the time; I’m surprised no one has assassinated him.

Assassinated? Whoa - i don’t think that is legal.

How do I put this… what about all the bad things he did having nothing to do with speech giving?… I hate you all. I hate everyone involved.

Aww, sounds like someone needs a hug. :)

I just can’t believe there are still people who would defend Bush. Just how badly do you have to be f**ked before you say stop. His political, economic, environmental and military policies have failed at EVERY turn. And he’s never been about liberals and conservatives. Yes, he’s been successful at what he set out to do, and that is to transfer massive amounts of the US treasury into the hands of the people who put him in office. Geez, just how stupid can you be.

@TheCaptain - You’re nothing like the Cap’n… It does sound like you need a hug.

@RickG - What’s all this about massive amounts of the US treasury being put into the hands of the people who put Bush into office? I voted for him and I barely got any of that money… Sounds like you could use a hug too. Have you met TheCaptain?

The Cap’n says TheCaptain should be refined to quarters till the happy-mojo juice sets in….

Exactly!
