Donna is out, Brenda is in, and Kelly is still on the fence.
That’s right. Shannen Doherty (and maybe Jennie Garth) will reprise her role as Brenda Walsh on the new 90210 series. Tori Spelling is out due to personal reasons.
For you die-hard 90210 fans out there, this is huge news. For me? I think it’s funny to see this old show get a remake and I’m kind of intrigued to see how it all looks during the pilot episode.
I doubt I’ll watch the series (unless the wife does), but I HAVE to see Shannen Doherty back in that famous zip code. I was just in high school during the original series and I had a major crush on Brend Walsh. I admit it.

After EW.com’s Michael Ausiello first reported the news that Shannen is in talks, a very reliable and very inside source who works on 90210 tells me exclusively that “It is happening with Shannen. It’s just a question of how long she’ll shoot, whether it will be one day or ten, and what the storyline will be, but we are working on it and it is a very real thing.”
As mentioned above, they are hoping to get Jennie Garth to return with Doherty, so that they can get a magical reunion of Brenda and Kelly Taylor.

As for Shannen’s storyline, I’m told the details are still in the initial-concept stages, but the writers are hoping to get Shannen and Jennie together, onscreen, for a scene. Can you imagine? As far as superhot publicity explosions go, that would be akin to mixing gasoline, Tabasco sauce and fire.

I never watched the original but I might check this out, just out of curiosity. I'm still unclear if this is a remake, or a sort of “next generation” thing. Since some original actors are coming back, will they be the old versions of their characters all grown up?
Yeah, I'm assuming it's a next-gen thing…they'll be reprising their roles I'm sure.
Will her dad Bill be on the show?
The only reason I watched the first time around was because of Brenda. When she left the show, I stopped watched because it was just never the same. I am glad to see she will be back in front of the camera for this project.
So I guess the residual checks from Charmed aren't paying the bills huh?
