Mike heads to Comic-Con tomorrow!
I’ve been looking forward to this for a few weeks now. Comic-Con. My first trip there is happening in less than 24 hours and I’m beyond excited.
I’m also totally freaking out because I have no idea what to expect. I’ve seen the pictures, heard what it’s like, but I have a feeling you can’t know until you experience it for yourself.
My biggest worry is making sure I cover all the TV panels I want to, especially because of the onslaught of awesome that IS Saturday. I have a nightmare of rooms being so packed, I wont be able to see Katie Sackhoff in person.
I think I’m ready though. I’ve got two laptop batteries for both live blogging sessions I plan on attempting. I’m armed with the digital camera that also records some pretty nice video with sound, and I can easily transfer that video to YouTube or anywhere else I wish. I also have a little digital recorder for those potential interviews that might float my way.
The maps are in the backpack, I have about six comics for the flight over, I’ve got money to purchase the one item I care about at Comic-Con this year, and I know where Natalie Morales from The Middleman will be Saturday night.
I’m frakking ready.
So I’ll be doing a few things to help relay any cool stuff I find right back here to you guys.
First off, we have a Twitter page that you can check out for the latest updates from my cell phone. Or just follow us on Twitter: www.twitter.com/popcritics.
The second thing will be the two Live Blogging sessions on Saturday for Lost and BSG. Hopefully I will see you all there and it will be something awesome.
And finally, I’ll be posting news items and photos any chance I get.
I put up an ambitious schedule for Friday and Saturday a few weeks ago, but this is the tentative, final plan below:
Friday
- I have a cool appointment at 10:30 to get a demo of the new DC Universe Online game.
- 11:55 AM - Watchmen. Can’t miss this.
- 1:45 PM - EW’s The Visionary’s…cool cast of characters here talking about the future of TV.
- 5:30 PM - 24 - Jack Bauer demands I be in attendance.
- 6:30 PM - Prison Break - My pathetic love for this show hopes I can make it from 24 to PB.
- 8:30 PM - Eisner Awards
Saturday
- 12 PM - The Lost panel and the first of the live blogs
- 1:00 PM - Terminator Salvation…I really am excited for this movie for some reason
- 2:15 PM - Battlestar Galactica…the second of the live blogs
- 3:30 PM - Chuck!
- 4:45 PM - Fringe trailer screening
- 5:30 PM - Pineapple Express and Underworld 3
- 10 PM - MUTANT CHRONICLES SCREENING!
Next year we’re putting a team together for this thing. Thanks to everyone for your help and support.
I’ll be up there first thing Friday and back home Sunday morning. The only downside of the entire experience will be NOT getting to see X-Files: I Want To Believe this weekend. Looks like you can expect a Monday evening review.
