I don’t usually feel the need to ever pass on a movie review to you guys, because mostly they are just your average opinion piece on what the viewer thought.
But this review by Alex Billington over at First Showing is pretty remarkable in it’s utter exuberance and exultation of The Dark Knight. It’s actually not a “review” in his words, but more of a conveyance of how awesome it is.
He calls it an “extraordinary cinematic revolution.” I thought it was going to be good, but I had no idea that it could possibly be something like Billington describes:
Instead of reviewing this film and its many brilliant elements, I must explain why it truly is a flawless masterpiece that the world will experience together on July 18th. Don’t necessarily change any of your expectations, but be prepared for an unforgettable theatrical experience.
He says the “cinematic revolution” is because of director Christopher Nolan’s usage of IMAX camera and stunning cinematography. I mean, listen to this:
This was unlike anything I have ever seen before and that’s because it literally has never been done before until now. I have never normally enjoyed watching movies converted to IMAX, but the work in this was breathtaking, a true look at a future where movies constantly push visuals to these extremes. It’s a true revolution because when The Dark Knight arrives and the world is so drawn into how amazing the film looks on IMAX, it will instantly become the standard for the future, similar to bullet time from The Matrix. Christopher Nolan has shown us a world without filmmaking boundaries. And for the first time ever, I can’t suggest you watch this anywhere else besides on IMAX.
Please go read the rest of the article by Billington, because he goes on to talk about how important this film will end up being down the road.
He also told us the running time is a solid 160 minutes, which I love because I just cannot get enough Batman.
But I’m going to have to find a way to see those 160 minutes on IMAX, because after his non-review of the movie, I don’t think I can lower myself to watch it in any other way.

IMAX makes me dizzy.
I think this will be better with maggie glynendallyshaodgisall instead of katie holmes. I wanted to like batman begins so much but it was just ok not iron man good. this looks darker which is good. hmm do i want to puke possibly watching in imax or miss out and see it in a normal theater.
Your not supposed to watch IMAX when you are on a sit-n-spin….
Not Iron Man good? Are you crazy?
I would call Batman Begins much better than Iron Man.
{bites lip…}
Well I saw Iron Man in a theater so that gives it and edge. Marvel is about action and DC about characters, thats why i think jake's sister will make the movie better since she is a better actress than katie holmes. Maybe my expectations were too high
For me Batman Begins is easily in my top 3 superhero movies of all time, so I can't wait for the next one. Glad to hear it's getting good early press.
I'm with the Cap'n on this one…
