Walt Becker To Direct Time Travel Actioner Stealing Time

Variety is reporting that Columbia pictures has tapped Walt Becker (Van Wilder, Wild Hogs) to direct the actioner Stealing Time with Bob Cooper and Charles Segars producing.

Stealing Time revolves around three generations of men who embark on a worldwide quest to uncover the secrets of an ancient device known as the Antikythera Mechanism, which may be the key component to making time travel possible.

The story for the film was developed by Cooper and Segars, who worked out the storyline with Columbia co-president Doug BelgradColin Trevorrow has started work on the screenplay.

I’m a huge fan of time travel stories as I’ve mentioned many times.  This one sounds pretty cool although we haven’t got many details on it yet.  It actually kind of sounds like the film will be more about the search for the device that will lead to time travel than it will actually be about time travel itself.  I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

At first glance, Becker seems an odd choice to direct an action film.  However, he’s been a pretty hot commodity since Wild Hogs and he’s got a ton of projects in the works.  Currently, he’s set to produce and direct The Zookeeper for MGM and he’s also producing No Relation for Fox Searchlight and Still You for MGM.
