I don’t think we’ve mentioned a single thing about Doubt, yet it’s a film that hopes to compete for a few Oscars come award season time. It stars critical darlings Maryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams so I guess it’ll probably get some sort of automatic nomination. When the principal (Meryl Streep) of a Bronx Catholic High School accuses a popular priest (Philip Seymour Hoffman) of pedophilia, a young nun caught in between the feuding pair become hopelessly swept up in the ensuing controversy. John Patrick Shanley adapts his own play for the screen under the guidance of producer Scott Rudin.
Doubt is scheduled for a limited release on December 12, 2008.
Sounds interesting, although it might be some dark subject matter depending on how far they take this pedophilia aspect…
