ABC has ordered a pilot for the unscripted project known as The Shark Tank from producer Mark Burnett. The program will be an adaptation of the Japanese reality show called Dragon’s Den.
In The Shark Tank, aspiring entrepreneurs will pitch their business ideas to moguls, aka the “Sharks,” in hopes of landing investment funds.
This would only be the second reality competition series for ABC. The network recently aired two seasons of American Inventor, a creating of Simon Cowell and Peter Jones, which featured contestants pitching their inventions to judges and America in the hopes of winning the money and the expert help to see their inventions make it to market.
Peter Jones is one of the “Dragons,” the wealthy judges, on the successful British version of Dragon’s Den which aired its sixth season this summer.
Mark Burnett, of course, is one of the founding fathers of reality TV, having established his name with shows such as Survivor and The Apprentice (which returns in January with a second celebrity edition).

You may want to check on this, but I don't believe Mark Burnett had anything to do with The Amazing Race.
Thanks. You're right. I wrote without thinking. I made the correction.
I know you like Survivor and all, but you're going to have to stop thinking it's THAT awesome…I mean, next you're going to say Burnett helped create Lost and the soon to come Dollhouse.
LOL - Yeah, but imagine for a minute how cool it would if he really DID create reality shows called Lost and Dollhouse.
Lost - Like Survivor, only the contestants are all marooned separately and no one knows where they are. There are creatures in the jungle that will eat them. The goal, find the “others” and well, survive until everyone is found.
Dollhouse - Well, let's just say it involves plenty of girls…and they have to wear teddies..and have pillow fights. Hey, I don't make the rules.
He is also responsible for Desperate Housewives, E.T. and Oprah.
