Dr. Greene Returns to ER

Good ol’ Dr. Mark Greene. One of the best characters ever on ER, he died of a brain tumor towards the end of the 2001-02 season, and the goodbye was one of the most gut-wrenching, tearful moments in the series.

Just re-watching his final scene in the video at the bottom of this article brought all the sadness back.

The one scene, besides his death, that I remember most, was when Susan left for Arizona and Dr. Greene watched her disappear forever on the train.

That to me was the high point for ER.

Well, if you were a big fan of Dr. Greene, and the actor that played him, Anthony Edwards, then you’ll love this news from Entertainment Weekly:

Edwards will appear as Dr. Greene one more time in an episode entitled Heal Thyself. Greene will be shown in scenes that appear to be flashbacks, along with other characters that are no longer on ER. The flashbacks not only feature old ER cast members, but it will also tell some back story on a current character named Dr. Bansfield, played by Angela Bassett.

Appearing for eight total seasons on the long-running series, Edwards received four Emmy nominations and won three Screen Actor’s Guild Awards.

What do you guys think of Greene returning? Are you excited? Will you be watching the final season of ER?

  1. I was hoping ER… just could have somehow got all the original cast members back for a show, but play it like it was an episode form when they were on it… just a different story with all of them in it… that would have been nice for 1 show for the final season, but I guess flashbacks with Goose will have to do… (there's two O's in Goose ladies…)

  2. My favorite scene is with him and Spicoli getting stoned and rolling out of their van. I can't believe he made it to college and actually stuck it to those snotty Alpha Betas. Thats the way I choose to remember Anthony Edwards.

  3. It actually might be like that with the flashbacks

  4. ROTFL, those were his best moments.

  5. Dang, I'm not sure I even remember that :(

  6. This show is still on?

  7. AHHHHH IM SOOOO EXCITED!!!
    DR. GREEN WAS MY FAVORITE!!!!
    I CANT WAITE!!!
