Entourage Recap: “Fantasy Island”

The boys from Entourage are back, even if they were kind of doing their own thing at the start of the fifth season. When we last left Vincent Chase and his crew of Turtle, Eric, Drama and Ari Gold, their passion project, Medellin, bombed big time at CANNES and was purchased for a single dollar.

The best part of the episode occurred right from the get-go, when Medellin was reviewed by Richard Roeper and Michael Phillips on the show they used to star in, At the Movies.

Said Richard:

“I usually try to keep my opinions to myself until we actually review a film on this show, but this time I got on my feet and booed with the rest of the angry mob. I would have thrown food if I had some.”

Said Phillips:

“This is the silliest thing to come out of South America since the musical Evita. It’s over-acted, under-directed and paced like a snail. Did I mention it’s long? The year is young, but this is a good bet to be nominated for one of the year’s worst. Oh yeah Vince, Al Pacino called, he wants his Scarface accent back.”

Damn! That might be the most brutal review Roeper and Phillips have ever given. Okay, yes, it’s all faked and Medellin isn’t a real movie, but it was priceless and spot-on anyways. Loved it.

Because of the embarrassment and utter failure of the film, Vince is hiding out in Mexico at a secluded spot with Turtle and a bunch of naked, sex-crazed chicks. He’s also grown a massive, gnarly beard in the meantime.

Back in L.A., Eric is building his agency, even though he only has one client. Ari is trying to ignore all the Richard Roeper comments at work and threatens to fire anyone who says that name one more time.

Drama is a full-fledged primadonna on the set, as a photographer wants to take shots of everyone on their right side, but he’ll have none of it. That side makes him look scary to kids. Hilarious.

He also has a girlfriend living in Europe (or someplace). Somewhere, somehow, they formed a sign-off from video phone calls that goes something like “Tweet?” “Twirp!”

I’ll have to try that sometime.

When an offer comes in to pay Vincent his full asking price and get him back on his feet, Ari, Eric and Drama have to fly down to Mexico to bring him back. He’d rather stay there, enjoy the beach, the girls and the sun for $79 a day instead of ever coming back.

It takes conVINCing, but he eventually gives up. They fly back, only to discover the offer was just a play by the director to get Emile Hirch to lower his asking prices by $2 million. Bummer!

But now that Vince is back in the states, he decides he wants to revive his career anyways.

The episode ends with Drama and Turtle visiting said director and bashing in one of his expensive car windows and leaving a dead fish on the hood.

Gotta love Drama.

Overall, a good episode. It almost makes me want to order HBO again to watch this every week. But choosing between Dexter and Vincent…it’s a no-brainer. Dexter.

  1. “The episode ends with Drama and Turtle visiting said director and bashing in one of his expensive car windows and leaving a dead fish on the hood.” i had to watch this episode twice becuase I didnt hear what he said when he dropped the fish on the hood so it didnt make sense to me the first time until I heard him answer turtle why he is putting a fish on the hood…
    “Aquaman is back…”

  2. Cap'n, I missed that too. That's gold!

  3. Wow, good call, our recording was kind of messed up for some reason, so I
missed that too! Great stuff :)

  4. Why are we choosing Dexter or Entourage, Cox charges $12.99 for one premium, but only $6 for each add'l. Skip the latte and get the Drama!

  5. Hmm, I thought it was $10 for the second, $8 for the third, etc. Maybe it's been a bit too long since I've looked at their pricing :)

  6. they crammed an hour episode into 30 minutes
