Fall Premiere Dates for The Discovery Channel

I love the Discovery Channel even if I don’t watch it as much as I wish I could. There is just too much going on with the normal network-type shows for me to find time to explore the worlds that Discovery shows us everyday.

One of my favorites was Build it Bigger, but I’m hearing that’s moved to the Science Channel for it’s next run, which is already being filmed from what I was told.

For those of you who are big time fans of the channel, we have for you all the Fall Premiere Dates for their top shows. I’m actually going to make an effort to add Storm Chasers to my watch list, because most of my friends know that weather and storms just might be my first calling.

KOPPEL ON DISCOVERY: THE LAST LYNCHING

One Hour Special Premieres Monday, October 13 at 10PM ET/PT

The 2008 presidential race has led to some talk about a “post-racial” period in American history. Indeed, the United States has come a long way on the road toward racial equality. There is, however, still much left to accomplish. In this one-hour special, Ted Koppel focuses on three Americans whose lives were profoundly affected by incidents of racism. Each of them, however, was directly involved in naming Sen. Barack Obama as the Democratic party’s nominee for president. Rep. Robert Filner was thrown into Parchman Prison in 1961. Florida Schoolteacher Lizzie Jenkins recalls tales of her grandfather watching the lynching of six African Americans in 1916. Rep. Artur Davis reminds us of “The Last Lynching,” which took place in Mobile, Alabama in 1981.
