Variety has done an article that talks about Guillermo del Toro and all of the projects he has in the works and in the article they show that the director is booked through at least 2017 and maybe even longer.
Of course, everyone knows that del Toro is adapting The Hobbit for New Line and MGM. He has already begun writing The Hobbit with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, collaborating via video conferencing and trips to New Zealand every three weeks. With the writing and directing of the expected two films from that project del Toro will be committed for the next five years.
Meanwhile, in June of ‘07 the director inked a three year, first look deal with Universal. The studio is eying a long-term commitment from the director and is setting up no less than four directing projects for him including remakes of Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Slaughterhouse-Five.
The fourth project is an adaptation of Drood, a Dan Simmons novel acquired by Universal that will be published in February by Little, Brown.
The article says that Drood is likely to be del Toro’s first post-Hobbit project, however, Universal also still has its sights set on del Toro’s pet project, an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness so that is always a possibility as well.
Additionally, Universal also has a couple of films for del Toro to produce, but not direct. The first is an adaptation of David Moody’s apocalyptic novel Hater. The second is a gothic romance spec script by del Toro and his Mimic collaborator Matthew Robbins.
There isn’t any mention in the article of a third film in the Hellboy franchise. I think we can assume that it’s either dead or del Toro will not be involved.

There was just a story about Chris Carter from the X-Files being hospitalized for exhaustion, the reason being that he worked on two movies back to back for like two years solid.
Del Toro is taking that and blowing it out of the water.
I'm tired just reading about it all.
At the Mountains of Madness that is just fucking awesome! I am crying.
You've read it then? What's it about in a nutshell?
I'm sorry, what were we taking about? I fell asleep reading it.
It is about an expedition to the antarctic to find out if there is some wierd shit there or not. There are actually two teams of explorers competing and messing each other over to get there first. And what they will or will not find is spooky as hell.
Does that sum it up?
