Now Angelina Jolie Doesn’t Want To Make Edwin A. Salt?

Not too very long ago I told you how the once-set-to-star-Tom Cruise film Edwin A. Salt was going to get a complete makeover so that Angelina Jolie could play the title character. Well, now it seems that all the rewrite work may be for naught as Angelina may not be making the movie after all.

The title character in the drama, CIA officer who’s accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy and must elude capture long enough to establish his innocence, was getting a complete rewrite to gender bend the role to accommodate Jolie who had expressed interest when Cruise exited the project (maybe before).

However, IGN has been hearing through the grapevine that Jolie may not be able to take the role due to her recent delivery of Brad Pitt’s love children. Says IGN:

We’ve been informed that Jolie may have to drop out due to the needs of her newborn twins and thus might not be able to meet the picture’s start date. While it’s not official yet, Jolie’s departure from Salt certainly appears likely.

As it stands, I find it unlikely that the studio would bet much money on any other actress for this role. I think it more likely that they’ll revert the role back to a man and try to find an A-list male star to take over. Last I heard, Philip Noyce is still planning to direct…although he’s probably getting pretty confused by now.

  1. I like the way you color-coded the photo of Angelina to match with our site's colors…well done Jason!

  2. Jason didn't do that… Angie took this picture special for you guys.

  3. God bless her

  4. Sounds about right. If I had just had twins I wouldn't be up to doing much of anything.

  5. That's ok, she wouldn't be good in the role. She's not a good actress; her only character seems to be “I look down my nose at the rest of you, and I'm a bitch.”
