One of the early most talked about Oscar contenders would have to be Revolutionary Road. Not only does the film feature the first reunion of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet (and Kathy Bates) since Titanic sailed into the record books, but it was also directed by Sam Mendes who has brought us Road To Perdition, Jarheads, and previous Best Picture Winner, American Beauty.
In it’s simplest form, Revolutionary Road is about a husband and wife in 1950s suburban Connecticut, who are dissatisfied with life and are trying to find fulfillment in an age of conformity. Trapped in a world of encoded convention, they dream without faith, as lies and self-deceptions build to explosive consequences. However, the book the film is based on, written by Richard Yates, has been named one of the best of the past century so I’m sure there’s much more to it than that.
Entertainment Tonight recently aired a sneak preview of the film which we have for you here. I’m pretty sure a full trailer will soon be following, but it should be similar to the footage you see in this sneak peak.
I’m not sure exactly how I feel about this film yet. I can’t say that I’m really excited about it, but it’s definitely on my list of films to see. I have a hard time believing that this cast and this director didn’t put together a fabulous film. It’s exactly the sort of movie the Academy seems to go for come Oscar nomination time as well which is probably the reason they’re releasing it on December 26 - just in time to be considered.

I'd like to read the book first.
Wow… I didn't remember much about this movie… but the cast and director definitely have me intrigued. I too would like to read the book.
I'm starting to get excited about the holiday movie season!
Mary Hart's blathering aside, I think this looks fantastic. I'm willing to bet there's some great parallels between 1950's suburbia and 2008 suburbia.
Also, Leo DiCaprio rarely makes a bad movie and in Winslet and Mendes and this should be a very good movie.
May have to read the book beforehand.
