Yes, despite the mediocrity of the last few seasons, there are still Smallville fans out there and I’m definitely one of them. It’s one of those shows that you keep watching mostly because of all the time you’ve invested. And that idea of an ending which will make it worth the journey.
That ending seems like it could hopefully come this season.
I say hopefully because I think the show needed to finish up. It’s been bad for awhile, with a couple of good episodes sprinkled in here and there. I’m ready to see this show conclude with Clark becoming Superman already.
According to Operation Save Clark Kent, the show will halt production after the 10th episode and not return untili the spring. This makes room for Reaper to run its season, but also allows for Smallville to run uninterrupted in the fall and spring.
There is also the threat of an actor’s strike out there, so the writer’s will be able to have the season at a point where it’s not a big deal if they need to take a longer break before coming back.
But the bigger aspect of this, according to OSCK, is if the show ends up being canceled this year, it allows the writers a chance to pen a conclusion to the series. I guess that depends on if The CW brings it back for the spring run, but hopefully they do allow it to finish things off for the fans. The break also gives the network time to decide if they even want to bring it back.
What do you guys think? Would you like Smallville to end this year or keep going?

I'm not one to say shows should end… if you like them and the stories are good, keep going…but, Smallville last 2 season have not been up to par for the previous ones… so maybe its time to go, or time to get up to speed….

I agree. I started to notice the decline after Clark's father died. It wasn't as noticeable (to me) until season 6. Season 6 and 7 just have been all over the place. I watched the first few episodes of season 6 and then got bored. Skipped episodes. I saw the first few eps of season 7 then just stopped watching until the last couple. Season 5 was the series finale for me. But I will watch the first few eps of season 8 to see if it's any better.

I'm actually looking forward to this season… I'm a big fan of Lois and seeing the spoilers I love that they're edging Clark closer to his destiny. I don't want to spoil too much but I think I've accepted the fact that Smallville is a true retelling of the Superman mythos.

it should end to free up our dvr on thursday nights.
I have been watching this show on DVD's when each season is released. I have enjoyed the show and I think when you watch the episodes in order it is better then catching a show here and there on TV. I think this show needs a good ending and I hope the writer's do it justice.
